(DR Egolf, Baileya 15(1): 7-8. 1967): Dense, globular shrub, 3.5 m tall; leaves glossy dark green, thin leathery, turning bright orange-red in autumn; panicles 12-17 cm long, 11-15 cm wide, abundantly produced, flowers dark purple (Violet Purple 733/1 1); very tolerant of powdery mildew; originated in 1960 from a cross of L. indica ‘Dwarf Purple’ × L. indica ‘Light Lavender’ and introduced in 1967 by the US National Arboretum; NA 28861; PI 316671.
