- Choose the cultivar that suits you, for the garden or terrace.
- Ensure dry feet in winter.
- Prune after the harshest frost.
- Put it in the warmest and sunniest spot in your garden or terrace, sheltered from strong winds.
- Prune after the severest frosts and never after the end of July and autumn.
- In open ground, it does not need to be heavily pruned; annual trimming of the shoots is sufficient. Note that the Lagerstroemia waits a very long time to sprout.
- Patience is a beautiful virtue, the rewards are great.
- Should it freeze harder than -15°C for a prolonged period, it is wise to cover or wrap the plant at the base of the stem.
- Protect young Lagerstroemia for at least up to 4 years in winter and preferably plant in spring.
