(US plant patent no. 16,917): Deciduous, compact shrub to 73 cm high and 100 cm wide after 3 years; leaves 21 mm long and 13 mm wide, young leaves grey-purple 183B to yellow-green N 144A to yellow-green N 144D, upper surface of mature leaves is green 137A and lower surface green 137C, upper surface of autumn leaves is yellow-orange 16A to yellow-orange 21B to red 53A to grey-purple 187A and lower surface yellow-orange 16C to yellow-orange 22B to red 53B to yellow-green 146C; Inflorescences 7.5 cm long and 6.7 cm wide with 15 to 20 flowers per inflorescence, with glossy flower buds 6 mm long and 6 mm wide and grey-red 180A, flowers red 53B in full bloom, fading to red 46A. Arises from open-pollinated seed of ‘Pocomoke’ . Named and introduced in 2006 by Michael Dirr (Gardener's Confidence Collection Catalogue, obtained in 2011): Fiery red flowers. Autumn leaves turn reddish purple. Excellent for mass planting. Blooms from late summer into autumn. Easy to grow and mildew resistant. 90-150 cm high × 90-150 cm wide. Zone 6-9.
