 (DR Egolf and AO Andrick, The Lagerstroemia Handbook/Checklist A Guide to Crapemyrtle Cultivars, p. 53. 1978): Large shrub or small tree with multiple stems, 7 m high and 3.5 m wide [NOTE: 9 m high and 10.5 m crown width after 35 years]; exfoliating stem bark dark cinnamon brown (Greyed Orange 166B-174D 2 ) and spectacular throughout the year; leaves glossy, dark green, 3.4-8 cm long and 2-4 cm wide, in autumn beautiful orange and red hues; inflorescences 14-30 cm long and 10-15 cm wide with pure white flowers; under field conditions the plant is very tolerant to powdery mildew. Originated in 1964 from the crossing of L. indica ‘Pink Lace’ × L. fauriei ; selected in 1969; Introduced in 1978 by the US National Arboretum; NA 38449; PI 427115. Name registered on 15 May 1978.
