Lagerstroemia indica x fauriei ‘Pecos’
(DR Egolf, HortSci. 21(5): 1250-1252. 1986): Multi-stemmed, semi-dwarf, globular shrub; exfoliating branches and trunk grey (Grey 201B 2 ) and dark brown (Grey Orange 175A); leaves elliptical to inverted ovoid, 5-6 cm long and 1.9-2.5 cm wide, dark green (Yellow Green 147A above and Yellow Green 147B below), in autumn chestnut brown (Grey Purple 183A) to dark purple-red (Grey Purple 184A); inflorescences globular, 15-20 cm long and 13-19 cm wide with medium pink (Red Purple 57D) flowers, repeatedly flowering from early July to September; mildew resistant; Originated in 1972 from the cross ( L. indica ‘Dwarf Red’ × L. fauriei ) × ( L. indica ‘Dark Red’ × L. fauriei ); selected in 1975; introduced in 1986 by the US National Arboretum; NA 54977; PI 499823.
